Remembrance Sunday
Loving Father, as we remember those who have gone before us, we look forward to the day when we will once again be united in your Kingdom.
Bless our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world. We pray for John, our Archbishop, and all the clergy people of this diocese. Pour out your grace on the Dean and community of this Cathedral and on all who come to visit and to worship here.
Lord in your mercy …
We pray for our world and those with whom we share it. Deliver us, Lord, from violence and inspire us to reach out to those from whom we differ.
Lord in your mercy …
We pray for our President, Mary McAleese, and for the communities in which we live and work. Bless, Lord, the members of our Defence Forces and the Garda Síochána serving in peace-keeping missions overseas, as well as our voluntary workers in developing countries and community workers who care for the distressed and excluded in our own country.
Lord in your mercy …
On this Remembrance Sunday we recall those who have died in the cause of peace and who have lost their lives in the service of humanity. We pray for all who still bear the scars of oppression and injustice and for those who have lost loved ones. Lord, you have made us in your image; break down, we pray you, the walls of hostility that divide us.
Lord in your mercy ….
We pray for all who are unwell or disabled and for all who care for them, remembering particularly those injured in conflict. In a moment of silence we pray for all who have asked for our prayers.
Lord in your mercy …
We give thanks for all who share in the gift of faith that comes to us through our Lord, Jesus Christ. We rejoice in the witness of St Martin of Tours and of all your faithful people in every age, and pray that we may share with them the joy of your eternal Kingdom.
Merciful Father, accept these our prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
