Visiting Choirs at Christ Church Cathedral

We are always delighted to welcome visiting choirs to Christ Church, and both cathedral and city have much to offer those who maintain and enhance our daily worship in this way.

Choirs come from all over the world to sing in the cathedral and to enjoy life in Ireland’s vibrant capital city.
The ancient and beautiful cathedral boasts a glorious warm acoustic, a magnificent three-manual organ by Kenneth Jones and a large and well-equipped Song School. Choirs are welcome to sing as many of the cathedral services as they wish (from a single day to a full week), and they are guaranteed a warm welcome from the clergy and community The pattern of sung daily services is as follows:

Weekdays 1800 Choral Evensong (except Friday; occasional special arrangements for feast days)
Saturday 1700 Choral Evensong
Sunday 1100 Cathedral Eucharist
1530 Choral Evensong

There is an optional half-hour recital slot available on Saturday lunchtimes. Visiting choirs may wish to have their singing recorded on the Cathedral’s professional recording system for private distribution after the event.

The majority of available dates fall during the months of July and August when the Cathedral choirs are on vacation. There are also a limited number of dates immediately after Christmas and Easter and during half-term weeks in February and October.

There are also opportunities for choirs to divide their singing time in Dublin between Christ Church and St Patrick's cathedrals.

The city of Dublin is well known as an international cultural centre and offers a wealth of attractions and activities, a lively nightlife and a wide range of museums and galleries, restaurants, pubs and shops. Conveniently, the world-famous Guinness factory is just ten minutes' walk from the Cathedral!

Accommodation is easily found in Dublin, and there are a wide range of hotels, hostels and other establishments within easy reach of the cathedral to suit every budget.

Those who are interested in bringing their choir to Christ Church are invited to make contact with the Visiting Choirs manager as early as possible. It is useful if a specific set of dates can be given at the outset.
